Mill Road - Hastings Road to Dartford Drive
Project No: CRP 3195, CRP 3220 & SWN 224
Project Engineer: Jake Saxon, P.E.
Project Timeline: 2020
Current Project Status:
Spokane County Public Works opened bids for the Mill Road – Hastings to Dartford Project on November 20, 2019. Red Diamond Construction was the low bidder and has been awarded the contract. Work is anticipated to begin the end of March / early April and continue through July 2019.
Mill Road will be closed for a large portion of the project. The detour route will utilize Hastings, US395, Wandermere Road and Dartford Drive. Local access to properties within the project limits will be maintained. Some aspects of the work will require local traffic to access their destination from the opposite end of the project limits than they normally would. This is due to pipe laying, paving and other operations that don’t allow safe passage of traffic. Spokane County and the Construction Contractor will communicate these instances as well as possible. These temporary impacts will be minimized as much as possible and the patience of the travelling public is greatly appreciated.
Project Description – The Mill Road – Hastings to Dartford project will include stormwater drainage improvements, traffic safety improvements and pavement resurfacing. Stormwater improvements will consist of a storm sewer system and bio retention swales to provide stormwater runoff treatment and disposal. Traffic safety improvements will consist of minor intersection improvements at Hastings and Mill, striped bicycle lanes and ADA curb ramp retrofits. Pavement resurfacing will consist of full depth asphalt pavement removal, grading, shaping and compaction of existing gravel road bas, and repaving with Hot Mix Asphalt.
