Undersheriff Rob Sherar has been a full-time law enforcement officer for over 26 years. He began his career in North Idaho in 1993 as a patrolman for the Kellogg Police Department and then in 1995 as a deputy sheriff for the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. During that time, Undersheriff Sherar served as a Field Training Officer and a member of the Sheriff’s SWAT Team. While working various shifts as a patrol deputy, he attended North Idaho College and earned an A.A.S. degree in law enforcement.
In June of 1999, Undersheriff Sherar was hired as a lateral deputy for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Since joining the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, he has served as a patrol deputy, training deputy, patrol corporal, property crimes detective, domestic violence detective, major crimes detective, patrol sergeant, training sergeant, FTO supervisor, canine sergeant, patrol lieutenant, canine commander, investigative lieutenant - major crimes/sexual assault, SIRR Team commander, Sheriff’s Forensic Unit lab director and Commander of the Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force.
Undersheriff Sherar is currently assigned to oversee the Downtown Precinct Patrol Division. Throughout his career, he has received extensive leadership training to include the completion of the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy.
