Inspector Rob Sherar has been a full-time law enforcement officer for over 25 years. He began his career in North Idaho in 1993 as a patrolman for the Kellogg Police Department and then as a deputy sheriff for the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. During that time, Inspector Sherar served as a Field Training Officer and a member of the Sheriff’s SWAT Team. While working various shifts as a patrol deputy, he attended North Idaho College and earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in law enforcement.
In June of 1999, Inspector Sherar was hired as a Lateral Deputy Sheriff for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Since joining the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, he has served as a patrol deputy, training deputy, patrol corporal, property crimes detective, domestic violence detective, major crimes detective, patrol sergeant, training sergeant, FTO supervisor, canine sergeant, patrol lieutenant, canine commander, investigative lieutenant - major crimes/sex crimes, SIRR Team commander, Sheriff’s Forensic Unit lab director.
Inspector Sherar is currently assigned as the Downtown Precinct Commander, with oversight of both the Patrol Division and the Investigative Division of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his career, Inspector Sherar has received extensive leadership training to include the completion of the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy.
