2020 Spokane County Recycles Poster Contest


Entrants must be in grades K-8 and either reside or attend school in Spokane County. “Spokane Recycles” – 2020 Poster Contest Rules: Posters must be letter-size (8 1/2 x 11) and drawn horizontally. You may use marker, crayon, colored pencil; no 3-D collages please. The student’s name must not appear on front of poster. Primary considerations for judging are, in priority:

• Use of theme “Erase the Waste: Reduce, Reuse then Recycle!”

• Originality

• Artistic ability – attractive and grade appropriate

(Tip: make any text large enough to be legible at a distance.)

Up to 30 finalists will be selected for public display the month of November. Finalists will also receive special recognition by County officials and solid waste professionals in November as part of the America Recycles Day celebration. Fifteen (15) posters will be selected from the finalists to illustrate the 2021 Spokane Recycles Calendar. Students may enter individually or as part of a class. Posters must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, at Spokane’s Waste to Energy facility, 2900 S. Geiger Blvd., Spokane WA 99224. (If hand delivering, go to the administration building and leave with the receptionist.) Complete a signed release form and attach the filled-out information to the back of the completed poster with small pieces of tape - no glue, staples or paper clips. Do not fold poster.

2019 Spokane County Recycles Poster Contest 

Spokane County kids in grades K - 8 submitted their artwork for the 2019 Spokane County Recycles Poster Contest with the theme: "Let’s Recycle Right!" The winners had their artwork publicly displayed from the end of October through November 15th. The finalists were also be recognized for their work by elected officials and solid waste professionals. Fifteen posters will be selected from the finalists to illustrate the 2020 Spokane Recycles Calendar. 

The primary considerations for judging were, in priority:

  • The use of theme "Let’s Recycle Right!"
  • Originality
  • Artistic ability - attractive and grade appropriate (Tip: make any text large enough to be legible at a distance.)

2018 Spokane County Recycles Poster Contest 

Spokane County kids in grades K - 8 submitted artwork for the 2018 Spokane County Recycles Poster Contest with the theme: "The Power Of Recycling Is..." The winners had their artwork displayed at River Park Square from Oct. 30th to Nov. 19th. The finalists received special recognition at a Solid Waste Advisory Board meeting in November as part of the America Recycles Day celebration. Fifteen posters will be selected from the finalists to illustrate the 2019 Spokane Recycles Calendar. 

The primary considerations for judging were, in priority:

  • The use of theme "The Power of Recycling is..."
  • Originality
  • Artistic ability - attractive and grade appropriate (Tip: make any text large enough to be legible at a distance.)
