Spokane County experienced extreme flooding and a large number of severely damaged roads in the spring of 2017. The Board of County Commissioners declared a State of Emergency twice: once on February 16th, and again on March 15th. The State of Emergency was canceled on May 23, 2017. However, one road remains closed due to damage sustained during flooding.
The declaration of an emergency allows the Public Works Department to acquire emergency supplies and equipment to mitigate the flood damage to roads and bridges.
