Cybersecurity

Cyber (computer or information technology) Security is basically about protecting our computer systems. This includes the hardware, software and all electronic data that are a part of these systems. It is also the protection against any disruption of computer services.

The increase in our reliance on technology, including physical computers and our virtual computer world called cyberspace, is accompanied by a greater risk of wide scale events that could disrupt these services.

Cyberspace is often difficult to protect due to many factors. Because of this, strengthening the resilience of both cybersecurity and cyberspace has become an important homeland security mission.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a public awareness campaign called Stop.Think.Connect. This campaign provides resources and tips to help you understand the risks and what you can do to protect both your computers and information stored on them.
