Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC)

Under the Solid Waste Management-Reduction and Recycling Act (Ch.70.95.165 RCW) a local Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) is established for each county in the state. The SWAC provides a forum for the concerns and interests of area constituents to be included in the solid waste planning process and policies. Committee members include citizens, business representatives, waste industry professionals, local elected officials, and public interest groups.

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee is currently working with Spokane County and Great West Enginerring, Inc. to create an updated 2020 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). The Advisory Committee has formed a SWAC Subcommittee to attend comprehensive plan meetings, present information to the SWAC, and participate in creating the 2020 SWMP. For more information about when the SWAC subcommittee will conduct their meetings, please visit our Spokane County Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan page. All meetings are open to the public.
