Public Disclosure Information & Retention Schedule

Public Records Requests

Requests to inspect or copy public records, reviews, or other work product of the CAB should be in writing and identify the items being sought with reasonable specificity. Requests may be returned for further clarification. Requests may be made by mailing appropriate forms to: Spokane County Sheriff CAB Public Disclosure Request, Attn: Civil Division, 1100 W Mallon, PSB, Spokane, WA 99260. Phone: 509-477-6918. Applicable fees may apply. After notification of completion has been performed, documents may be picked up at the above address.

The disclosure of Spokane County Sheriff CAB records is governed by applicable state and local regulations. The disclosure of these records may have certain identifiable details redacted to protect a person’s right to privacy. Any redactions made shall be explained in writing.

Records Exempt from Public Inspection and Copying

Specific intelligence information and specific investigative records compiled by investigative, law enforcement, and penology agencies, and state agencies vested with the responsibility to discipline members of any profession, the nondisclosure of which is essential to effective law enforcement or for the protection of any person’s rights to privacy. (RCW 42.56.240(1))

Information revealing the identity of persons who are witnesses to or victims of crime or who file complaints with investigative, law enforcement, or penology agencies, other than the commission, if disclosure would endanger any person's life, physical safety, or property. If at the time a complaint is filed the complainant, victim, or witness indicates a desire for disclosure or nondisclosure, such desire shall govern. (RCW 42.56.240(2))

Information revealing the identity of child victims of sexual assault who are under age eighteen. Identifying information means the child victim's name, address, location, photograph, and in cases in which the child victim is a relative or stepchild of the alleged perpetrator, identification of the relationship between the child and the alleged perpetrator. (RCW 42.56.240(5))

Retention Schedule Information - Disposition of Public Records

Public records, documents, reviews, and other applicable work product of the CAB is governed by the Office of the Secretary of State, Washington State Archives. Records will be retained and disposed of IAW the Local Government Common Records Retention Schedule (CORE).
