Fair Ambassadors
The Interstate Fair selected four young adults to serve as the 2012 Fair Ambassadors. Selected were Bethany Hand (Mt. Spokane HS), Brianna Sillivan (North Central HS), Julia Viherlahti (Ferris HS), and Asa Wolfe (Spokane Community College Running Start). The Ambassador's Award, given to any one, any exhibit, or any booth, was awarded to the 4-H Still Life under the direction of Superintendent Sue McCoury.
Special Award Winners
Each year the Fair gives five outstanding achievement awards to exhibitors at the Spokane County Interstate Fair for their efforts. This year's Red, White and Blue Award winners were:

- Spokane Valley Kiwanis (Food Booth)
- Stone Crazy (Inside Commercial Booth)
Best Fair Food Awards
A program started in 2011 has three to five culinary judges from the Inland Northwest present on the first Saturday of the Fair with the task of selecting the best fair food. The 2012 winners were:
- Azar's for their Greek Nachos (Best Deep Fried)
- Baja Bowl for their King Burrito (Best Signature Item)
- Lasagnas on Ya for their Tiramisu (Best Dessert)
- SandwicHaven for their Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog (Most Creative)
