Wastewater from the Spokane Valley area is collected and treated at the Spokane County Regional Water Reclamation Facility, which is located near Trent and Freya Street.

Wastewater from the rest of the urbanized Spokane area is collected and treated at the City of Spokane Advanced WWTP, which is located downstream of the WRIA 55/57 watersheds.

In addition to the urbanized Spokane area, Liberty Lake is also a municipal discharger in Washington. Kaiser and Inland Empire Paper are industrial dischargers to the Spokane River. Kaiser is also a discharger to the Little Spokane River via Deadman Creek. Spokane County is also planning a new facility with a discharge to the Spokane river below Upriver Dam.

Regional efforts to site a second WWTP between Spokane Falls and the Idaho border are on-going to serve the rapidly growing population in the Spokane Valley.
