Noxious Weed Control Methods

Control recommendations require site-specific information and they may include mechanical, cultural, chemical or biological control methods. The whole site needs to be considered, not just the weed itself.

Adequate control may prevent future infestations. A good weed management plan uses more than one control method - an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) - approach. The key is to create a favorable environment for desirable plant growth to establish.

Plant competition is a good tool that is often overlooked and should be the first used. Restoring disturbed sites to prevent weed reoccurrences and provide competition for the weeds is essential.

Control Methods:

  • Chemical Control
  • Mechanical Control
  • Cultural Control
  • Biological Control

  • Whatever method you decide to use, please contact the Spokane County Noxious Weed Control Board so we can provide assistance to you with your plans.
