On Tuesday, June 5th, 2012, Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies J. Sutter and M. Spink responded to a possible residential burglary call near the area of 7000 N. Normandie Road. A neighbor observed a vehicle with three occupants park near a recently purchased
vacant home. The neighbor watched a male and female exit the vehicle, walk toward the home, and a short time later noticed the gate to the backyard was open.
Deputy Sutter arrived on scene and found one of the doors to the residence unlocked. After announcing her presence, 40-year-old Christine Blumenshein appeared and told Deputy Sutter there was another male, later identified as 30-year-old Robert Schulte, inside
the residence. After Deputy Spink arrived on scene, both Blumenshein and Schulte were detained. Deputy Sutter noticed Blumenshein had a clenched fist while placing her in handcuffs and when she opened her hand, located a small metal cap that contained a white
crystal substance Deputy Sutter recognized as methamphetamine. The substance later field tested with a positive presumptive result of methamphetamine.
Deputies Sutter and Spink located a tool bag and backpack on the floor inside the residence that contained snips, miscellaneous tools and 17 key chains with several Ford keys. The backpack had a name written in black marker on the inside. Deputy Sutter checked
the name inside the backpack and confirmed that person had been a victim of a vehicle prowling on March 17th, 2012.
• Blumenshein was booked into Spokane County Jail on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance-methamphetamine, and Criminal Trespass 1st Degree.
• Schulte was booked into jail on the charge of Criminal Trespass 1st Degree.
