On April 13th 2014, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Detective Myhre of the Investigative Task Force completed a lengthy investigation in to the criminal activities of 29-year-old Michael W. Belton (AKA Murray) and 37-year-old Aaron J. Cunningham. The crimes
committed by Belton and Cunningham totaled 30 separate reported incidents and spanned jurisdictions throughout Spokane County and Kootenai County Idaho.
Upon completion of the investigation, Detective Myhre provided information to the Spokane County Sheriff’s and Spokane Valley Patrol Deputies showing probable cause to arrest both suspects on more than 50 felony charges.
On May 6th 2014, Belton was arrested by Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputy J. Thurman at a residence in Spokane Valley. Belton was booked into the Spokane County Jail on 25 felony counts (6 counts of 2nd Degree Identity Theft, 2 counts of Theft of a Firearm, 2
counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and 15 counts of Theft 2nd Degree) and is currently being held on $75,000.00 bond for these charges.
On May 7th 2014, Cunningham was arrested by Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies N. Bohanek and B. Hubbell at a residence in North Spokane. Cunningham was booked into the Spokane County Jail on 29 felony counts (8 counts of Identity Theft 2nd Degree, 16 counts
of Theft 2nd Degree, 1 count of Unlawful Possession of Payment Instrument, 2 counts of Theft of Firearm, and 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree) and is currently being held on $100,000.00 bond.
Due to this initial investigation of Belton and Cunningham, another investigation was initiated into further criminal activities committed by the two and additional charges are expected.
