Posted 1/28/2014 5:25 PM by MDGREGORY

On Sunday, January 26th, 2014, at about 8:15 p.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a burglary call at a business near the 4500 block of East Sprague. Deputies contacted a witness who said he saw two males, later identified as 33-year-old Julian Torres and 50-year-old Bernave Vazquez, exit a vehicle near 1st and Custer carrying a duffel bag. He said a short time later, he saw them running from the business and thought they may have committed a burglary. The witness said he watched as Torres and Bernave drove across the street to the Walmart parking lot.

Deputy Brownell entered the business with the owner and confirmed it had been burglarized. Additional deputies located Torres and Bernave inside their vehicle at Walmart and detained them. They located a crowbar inside the vehicle that was more than likely used to break into the business. Deputy Brownell and the witness drove to Walmart where the witness positively identified Torres and Bernave as the two he observed running from the business.

• Torres and Bernave were both booked into jail for Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools.
