Posted 5/29/2012 10:43 AM by MDGREGORY

On Wednesday, May 23rd, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Burglary Task Force arrested two people in connection with a Home Invasion Robbery in the 9600 block of North Alpine Court which had been reported to the Spokane Police Department on May 22, 2012

Burglary Task Force members were in the 900 block of East Wabash St. looking for 32-year-old burglary suspec...t Joshua C. Epperson, who they believed may have been frequenting the area, as they had probable cause to arrest on numerous felony charges. Two males, 21-year-old Nathan W. Day and 28-year-old Nathan T. McDaniels were contacted as a result of the surveillance.

Day was contacted outside his residence by Deputy Thurman. Deputy Thurman noted a large bulge on his right hip and conducted a pat frisk of Day which resulted in the discovery of a Remington .45 caliber handgun in the right hip area of his shorts. The firearm had been reported stolen from a burglary in the 13000 block on North Mill Rd. in mid March of 2012. Deputy Thurman also seized marijuana and a marijuana smoking pipe from Day’s person. Deputy Thurman arrested Day for possession of the stolen firearm and possession of marijuana.

Corporal Ellis contacted McDaniels a short distance away with information from Deputy Thurman that McDaniels had an outstanding theft warrant for his arrest. Corporal Ellis arrested McDaniels on his warrant. A search of McDaniels’ person produced numerous pieces of identification and credit cards belonging to the victim of a home invasion robbery on May 22, 2012.

Corporal Ellis transported McDaniels back to the Wabash location to assist Deputy Thurman with the investigation. A search of the Wabash residence was conducted. The search produced evidence of possession of stolen property and possession of drugs.

Both Day and McDaniels were transported to the Spokane County Public Safety Building for interviews. During independent interviews, both Day and McDaniels implicated one another and other suspects as being directly involved in the home invasion robbery on North Alpine Ct.

The victims of the Alpine Ct. home invasion robbery were contacted by Burglary Task Force members who were able to positively identify Day, McDaniels and Epperson as the persons who broke into the residence, assault them with a firearm, threaten their lives, bind them and steal their property. A fourth suspect's identity is still being investigated in the home invasion robbery. The victims were able to identify several pieces of recovered evidence as belonging to them and having been stolen.

Day was booked into SCSO Jail on the following charges; Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana less than 40 grams, Possession of a Concealed Firearm, Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree and three counts of Kidnapping First Degree.

McDaniels was booked into Jail on the following charges; Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, three counts of Kidnapping 1st Degree and a misdemeanor theft warrant.

The investigation is ongoing by the Spokane County Sheriffs’ Office Burglary Task Force.
