Today, January 7th, 2014, at 12:15 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Mosher was in the area of Cuba and Hastings when he observed a Ford F150 traveling northbound on Cuba in reverse. Finding this suspicious, Deputy Mosher activated his emergency
lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
South of Farwell the driver, later identified as 47-year-old Lannette Hoffman, stopped her vehicle. Deputy Mosher contacted Hoffman at the driver's side window and she proceeded to provide him with several false names. Eventually, Hoffman rolled up her window,
locked the door and fled the scene in reverse. Hoffman struck Deputy Mosher with the driver's side mirror nearly knocking him underneath the truck.
Deputy Mosher advised dispatch he was in pursuit of Hoffman and at the intersection of Farwell and Cuba, Hoffman stopped her vehicle, placed it in drive and struck the front of Deputy Mosher's patrol vehicle. Then, Hoffman exited her vehicle and ran from the
Deputy Mosher and an unknown United Parcel Service driver caught Hoffman and took her into custody. The UPS driver left the scene before Deputy Mosher could thank him for his assistance. Hoffman had no reason for driving in reverse or attempting to elude Deputy
• Hoffman was booked into jail for the felony charges of 2nd Degree Assault and Eluding.
