Today, December 18th, 2013, at 5:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on 57th east of Regal. Witnesses said the pedestrian was on the north side of 57th and ran south across the road. A truck traveling
eastbound on 57th struck the pedestrian in the eastbound lanes of travel on the front, passenger side of the truck. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and attempted to run across 57th in the middle of the road rather than utilizing the marked crosswalk at 57th and Regal. Impairment is not suspected with the driver of the vehicle. Once the scene is diagrammed, the pedestrian
will be released to the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy will be completed and the Medical Examiner's Office will provide cause of death and identity at a later time.
