On Monday, May 21st, Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Rockford City Park on a Malicious Mischief/Commercial Burglary call. Sheriff's Deputies contacted a Rockford Public Works employee who told them sometime late Sunday night, May 20th,
the city park was vandalized.
There was substantial damage to the city park that included damage to the Lyon's Club picnic shelter, fair building and nearly every other structure and fixture within the park. The suspect(s) took spray paint from the "Ag Building", which was where volunteers
had been working on the City of Rockford's float that was in the Lilac Parade, and vandalized the inside of the building.
City employees spent the entire day Monday cleaning and repairing damage throughout the park. A Rockford Public Works employee estimated the damage at thousands of dollars between repair and replacement of multiple broken items throughout the park.
