On Wednesday, May 16th, Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 5200 block of North Kenney Road on a suspicious person call. The caller stated two males were in the back yard of a residence, but were not sure if they had entered the house.
When deputies arrived on scene they saw two open doors at the back of the residence and could hear noise inside the house. Deputies set up containment and a short time later 34-year-old Jimmie Allen exited the residence. A second suspect, later identified as
41-year-old Mark Short, initially refused to exit the residence. Sheriff's Office K9 Ekko and his handler arrived on scene and Short chose to exit prior to Ekko entering the residence.
Members of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office Burglary Task Force arrived on scene to assist with the investigation. After interviewing Short and Allen, it was determined they had been burglarizing the residence when deputies arrived on scene. Task force members
eventually located items of evidence from the burglary at Allen's residence, who lives near the victim's residence.
The homeowner responded to Allen's residence and was able to identify property stolen from her residence. This case is ongoing and additional suspects and charges are expected.
• Allen was booked into Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary and Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine).
• Short was booked into jail for Residential Burglary.
