On Tuesday morning, September 24th, 2013, at about 1:00 a.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputy Chad Eaton was traveling northbound on University Rd. when he attempted to stop a motorcyclist for an equipment violation. The motorcyclist, later identified
as 25-year-old Yevgeniy Rudnitskiy, attempted to flee Deputy Eaton eastbound on Sprague Avenue from University. Failing to stop for Deputy Eaton's fully marked patrol vehicle led to a short pursuit east on Sprague, north on Bowdish and finally ended at 13th
and Balfour where Rudnitskiy ran from the motorcycle.
Deputies quickly set up a perimeter and within a few minutes, Deputy M. Brownell observed a male fitting Rudnitskiy's description running near the area of 9th and Herald. Deputy Brownell chased Rudnitskiy and detained him in an apartment complex at 9th and
Walnut. SPD K9 Officer C. Hamilton and his partner Leo also responded to the scene and tracked Rudnitskiy from the stolen motorcycle he was riding directly to the apartment complex. Rudnitskiy has two prior felony convictions for Eluding and several other
entries as a suspect in Eluding incidents.
• Rudnitskiy was booked into the Spokane County Jail for the felony charges of Eluding and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. His driving status was also suspended in the 2nd degree.
