Woman Airlifted From Collision Scene

Posted 5/16/2012 10:48 AM by MDGREGORY

A Spokane Valley woman remains in serious condition after a collision on Tuesday, May 15th, near the intersection of Market and Hawthorne Road. 22-year-old Lindsey Pearson was traveling northbound on Market south of Hawthorne Road. The area is currently under construction and flaggers are controlling traffic flow both north and south of Hawthorne as well as on Hawthorne Road.

Flaggers had stopped northbound traffic on Market. Pearson disregarded the flaggers and drove around stopped northbound traffic. South of the intersection of Market and Hawthorne, Pearson struck a southbound tractor trailer semi head-on. Pearson was airlifted to a local hospital and as of Wednesday, May 16th, is listed in serious condition.

With the increase in road construction, motorists are reminded that failing to obey an authorized flagger is a misdemeanor crime. This investigation is ongoing with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit.
