On Saturday, May 12th, at approximately 4:10 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Office Corrections Deputy Mark Sprecher was walking to his car after finishing his shift when he observed someone getting out of a county owned vehicle parked in "J" lot on the
east side of the Spokane County Jail. Deputy Sprecher recognized this person was not... a Spokane County employee and attempted to contact the individual.
The male suspect ran east bound towards Monroe Street. Deputy Sprecher followed the suspect in his vehicle, eventually catching up to him in the YMCA parking lot on the east side of Monroe Street near the Public Safety Building. Deputy Sprecher called 911,
told the male he was a Sheriff's Office employee, and stayed with him until the Spokane Police Department arrived on scene.
21 year-old David Mackin was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on the charge of 2nd Degree Vehicle Prowling. This is yet another example of a job well done by a Spokane County Corrections Deputy.
