On Monday, July 29, 2013, at 5:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 18500 block of North Division regarding a missing resident suffering from dementia. The adult male resident had walked away from the home and staff was not able
to locate him. Staff told deputies the patient has a five minute memory and they were very concerned for his safety.
Due to safety concerns for the resident, the decision was made to activate the ALERT Spokane system. This system allows dispatch to make a reverse 911 call to a specific geographic area notifying residents of the situation, and in this case, a description of
the missing resident.
Within minutes there were several calls made to 911 and Crime Check from citizens within the area stating they had seen the resident at various locations. One individual in specific called and advised he had given the resident a ride to a house on East Joseph
