Spokane County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Detectives & Spokane Police Detectives combined their investigative resources and arrested a robbery suspect on Wednesday, May 9th. Four separate robberies that took place in Spokane City and Spokane Valley
were being investigated by the detectives.
On Tuesday, May 8th, pho...tographs of the suspect that robbed three Safeway grocery stores and one Rosauers grocery store were released to the public. Within hours, detectives received tips that led to the eventual arrest of 38 year-old Daniel Drake for all
On Wednesday, Spokane Police Department's PACT Team (Police Anti-Crime Team) assisted both agencies in locating Drake. After nine hours of surveillance, the PACT Team located Drake at a Spokane Valley motel. Drake was arrested a short time later in the area
of Argonne and Montgomery in the Spokane Valley without incident.
Drake was interviewed by SCSO & SPD Major Crimes Detectives and admitted to committing all four robberies. Drake was booked into the Spokane County Jail on four counts of 2nd Degree Robbery.
This investigation was successful due to the diligent investigative work done by the Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit, Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit, Spokane Police Department's PACT Team and the Spokane Valley Property Crimes Detectives.
The Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit has recently assigned a detective to investigate all robbery reports that are taken. The ability to assign a lead detective to these crimes has been, and will continue to be, imperative in solving these types of crimes
and ensuring the safety of the citizens of Spokane County.
