Today, June 27, 2013, Spokane County Sheriff's Office Property Crimes Detectives and Spokane Police Department's PACT (Patrol Anti-Crime Team) executed several search warrants and ultimately arrested 40-year-old Derek A. Larson on four felony charges. Both departments have devoted recourses to the newly developed regional Property Crimes Task Force.

The Spokane Police Department's PACT Team has recently been investigating Larson for a string of unoccupied residential burglaries in Spokane City. These homes were unoccupied and for sale at the time of the burglaries. Larson had been stealing large appliances from the homes. The Sheriff's Office Property Crime Detectives have also been investigating Larson in a series of unoccupied residential burglaries in Spokane County.

SPD and SCSO shared information on each of their investigations and combined resources. They had Larson under surveillance this morning when he broke into an unoccupied residence for sale near 2100 E. Southeast Blvd. Larson was arrested leaving the residence carrying several pieces of art work. Larson was booked into jail for Residential Burglary reference this incident.

The Task Force executed several search warrants at his residence and storage units this morning and located multiple appliances linking Larson to several other burglaries. Based on their investigation, the team developed probable to cause to additionally charge Larson with one additional count of Residential Burglary, one count of 2nd Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Theft. The Task Force will be executing additional search warrants and expect additional charges. This is a great example of the success of law enforcement agencies combining their resources to combat this type of criminal activity.
