On Monday night, June 17, 2013, at 7:20 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover collision near the area of 5910 E. Peone Road. Deputies located a Dodge sedan that had driven off Peone Road, struck a power pole and rolled
several times prior to coming to rest in a field.
Spokane County Traffic Detective Jack Rosenthal responded to investigate the collision. From Detective Rosenthal's investigation, he determined the 18-year-old single occupant had been traveling eastbound on Peone west of Fairview Road. Tire transfer markings
on the roadway indicate the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to crossing westbound lanes of traffic and leaving the roadway. The vehicle struck a power pole and rolled multiple times. The driver was ejected and came to final rest approximately
100 feet from the vehicle. The driver was airlifted to a local hospital where he was last reported to be in serious condition.
According to Detective Rosenthal neither alcohol nor drugs seemed to be a contributing factor. Speed and possibly distracted driving appear to be the cause of the collision. The investigation is still ongoing.
