On Monday night, April 30th, at about 10:00 p.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff's deputies responded to an assault call in the parking lot of Summit School located near 6th and McDonald in Spokane Valley. Deputies responding to the scene were advised that the
adult female victim was in a vehicle near the area of Main and McDonald Road.
Deputies located the vi...ctim in a vehicle at that location and confirmed she had suffered multiple stab wounds to the back of her head. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to the hospital. The victim received several staples for her cuts and
was released from the hospital.
Other deputies that responded to the scene were looking for the suspect near the area of 6th and McDonald where the altercation took place. Witnesses told deputies that the suspect, later identified as 19 year-old Cody Gray, ran east from the school after the
fight, which was regarding ex-boyfriends and girlfriends. Witnesses also said they heard several gunshots during the altercation but did not know who fired the shots or if anyone was injured.
Spokane County Sheriff's K9 Brax and his handler tracked east on 6th Avenue and quickly located Gray at her residence located in the area of 13400 East 6th Avenue. Gray complied with deputies commands and was taken into custody without incident. Major Crimes
Detectives from the Spokane County Sheriff's Office responded to the location and processed the crime scene. Several shell casings were found in the parking lot at Summit School but the weapon was not located. Gray showed detectives where she hid the knife
after the altercation.
Gray was booked into Spokane County Jail on the charge of 1st Degree Assault, a felony.
