Implementation Of Burglary Task Force Successful

Wednesday, May 2nd, Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich provided up to date results since the implementation of the Sheriff's Office Burglary Task Force. Comparing March, 2012 to April, 2012, residential burglaries have been reduced by 22% for all a...reas handled by the Sheriff's Office. These locations include unincorporated areas of Spokane County, Spokane Valley and all contract areas. Comparing March, 2012 to April, 2012, unincorporated residential burglaries have been reduced by 26%.

A total of 50 people have been arrested involving 89 charges that are associated with the daytime rural residential burglaries. There are currently 4 pending arrests and over 15 pending charges for Trafficking in Stolen Property. A considerable amount of stolen property has been recovered and, when identified, is being returned to the owners.

Citizens involvement is a major key to the Sheriff's Office success with these crimes. The Sheriff's Office has been receiving several calls from citizens providing information that has lead to many of these arrests. The Sheriff's Office encourages citizens to continue reporting suspicious people, vehicles and activity in their neighborhoods as it has provided investigators with pivotal information that has lead to multiple arrests.
