On January 11, 2013, at about 5:00 a.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputies responded to 2122 N. Pines Road reference a vehicle prowling call. Customers at the convenience store provided a description of the suspect and told an employee the suspect was
prowling vehicles in the parking lot.
Deputies quickly arrived on scene and saw a male, later identified as 27-year-old Kurt Lamarr, in the parking lot. Lamarr matched the description provided by the employee. When deputies attempted to contact him, Lamarr placed his hand in his pocket and started
to walk away from them.
Once it was confirmed Lamarr was the individual who was prowling vehicles, deputies ordered Lamarr to stop. Lamarr continued to ignore deputies and began reaching in his waistband. Worried Lamarr may be reaching for a weapon, deputies attempted to physically
detain him.
While attempting to detain Lamarr, deputies realized he had a knife on his person. A taser application was applied and Lamarr was eventually placed in handcuffs. A knife was located in Lamarr's pocket after he was placed under arrest as well as a baggie of
methamphetamine.
• Lamarr was booked into the Spokane County Jail for the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Obstructing and Resisting Arrest.
