In December, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Explorers went to the WLEEA (Washington Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors) Academy in Yakama and made a great showing. Explorers come from all over Washington State to compete at the Winter Academy and the
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post sent 10 Explorers. They all did an outstanding job and 3 of them won awards!!
Spokane County Explorer Bryson Trautman received 2nd Place in Physical Fitness
Mike Baughn received 1st Place in Firearms
Devin Roach received Top Cop for APD
This is the highest award given at the Winter Academy for the Explorers. Devin competed against 12 of the best Explorers in Washington State for this award. Great Job Devin!!
What is the Explorer Program?
Exploring is a co-educational program developed and supervised by the Sheriff’s Department providing an opportunity for young adults to explore a potential career in Law Enforcement. Becoming an Explorer allows young men and women between the ages of 16 and
21 the opportunity to learn about a career in criminal justice while accumulating valuable volunteer hours for the Sheriff’s Department. Please check out their website if you would like additional information about joining!!

If so, you are cordially invited to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office Explorers annual OPEN HOUSE on Feb. 6th, 2013. Some of the major informational events that are planned for the evening include and are not limited to:

--> K-9 Demonstration
--> C.A.R.T. Demonstration
--> Post activities
--> Patrol Vehicle Showcase
--> Felony Traffic Stop Demonstration

This informational open house will be held at 10300 E. Sprague Ave (upper deck of the old U-City Mall), beginning at 6:00 p.m. and end around 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. Those interested in the program are more than welcome to bring parents/guardians and friends. Feel
free to bring a curious mind and any questions that you may have. Refreshments will be provided.
