***Update*** from the Spokane Police Records Division regarding waiting times for CPL applicants: The number of citizens coming in has seemed to level off and is now consistently back to “normal” numbers seen in past years. Obviously, this could change
without notice if more people decide to apply for CPLs but we will try to update any consistent status change as soon as possible. For INFO about Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL) including forms and fees:
Since the horrific events that took place in Connecticut on December 14, 2012, Concealed Pistol License (CPL) applicants in Spokane County have overwhelmed Police Records as well as Forensics. The number of applicants has jumped to three or four times the amount
per day compared to the numbers prior to December 14th.
Police Records and Forensics personnel would like the public to know that the expected wait to apply for a CPL can range anywhere from two to three hours. Applications are submitted at the Public Safety Building located at 1100 W. Mallon, Spokane, Wa 99260.
Applicants can print off and complete the application on-line at Spokanepolice.org. However, applicants must come to the Public Safety Building to submit the application in person. A background check and fingerprints are also required. Successful applicants
will have permits mailed to them as soon as possible after they are accepted.
Hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (Note: they are closed on Wednesday). Citizens need to be advised that if there are too many applicants to finish processing by 4:00 p.m., there will be no additional applicants
accepted after 1:30 p.m. New applications cost $52.50. Renewal fee is $32.00.
