On Wednesday, October 24th at approximately 7:40 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputy Cook observed a blue Suzuki motorcycle driving recklessly as it travelled south on Pines near Indiana in Spokane Valley. The driver of the motorcycle, later
identified as 31-year-old Dwayne J. Davis, was observed passing vehicles on the right shoulder of Pines and tailgating other vehicles as he weaved his way through traffic.
Deputy Cook turned on his overhead emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop as Davis turned east on Desmet from Pines. Davis looked back at the fully marked patrol car and began to accelerate heavily, almost losing control on the frosty road. When he attempted
to turn north onto Vercler, Davis lost control and the motorcycle slid out from under him. Davis picked up the motorcycle and began trying to push it away as Deputy Cook pulled up.
Davis dropped the motorcycle and ran back past the passenger’s side of the patrol car toward Desmet. He continued even after Deputy Cook ordered him to stop and informed him his K9 partner, Ekko, would be released. Ekko quickly caught Davis and he was taken
into custody without further incident
Davis was treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries. Dispatch advised his driver’s license status was suspended and the motorcycle he was driving had been reported stolen on September 14th, 2012.
Davis was booked into the Spokane County Jail for felony charges of Attempting to Elude and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. He was also charged for Driving While License Suspended 3rd, a misdemeanor.
