Stevens County Shooting Investigation Update
On Friday evening, October 19, 2012, Stevens County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a suicidal call near the intersection of Long Prairie and Deer Creek Road.
Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the suspect. Ultimately deputies fired one round killing the suspect.
The Spokane Investigative Regional Response Team was requested by the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting. Investigators spent Saturday collecting evidence from the scene.
On Monday, October 22, 2012, The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on the suspect. Cause of death was determined to be from a single gunshot wound. The Stevens County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the suspect at a
later time.
Investigators will be interviewing the two deputies involved in the shooting this week. Evidence from the scene has been sent to the Washington State Crime Lab. This investigation is on-going and no further information is available at this time.
