Private "Contractor" To Be Sentenced In October

Posted 9/25/2012 4:02 PM by KWESTBERG

Spokane County Sheriff's Office Detective D. Spivey's lengthy investigation into a private contractor's business practices came to a close Thursday, September 20, 2012, with convictions for multiple felonies. 58-year-old Ronald Stratton was charged with eleven counts of 2nd Degree Theft, all felonies, and two misdemeanor theft charges. Detective Spivey's case included 13 victims that suffered a total combined monetary loss over $23,000.00.

Stratton would commonly request money up front for work to be done, then not show up to complete the job. Stratton is no stranger to not fulfilling his contracts or agreements. Idaho records of Judgment and Sentencing from 1995 indicate Stratton was convicted on eight counts of Grand Theft and was ordered to pay over $300,000.00 in restitution. Additionally, Stratton was convicted on 11 counts of felony theft and issuing bad checks in Montana and was ordered to pay $39,122.94 in restitution during the same time period. Stratton will be sentenced in Spokane County Superior Court in October, 2012.
