On Tuesday evening, September 18, 2012, at 5:45 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision on Bigelow Gulch and Weile Road. Deputies arrived on scene to find a male subject, later identified as 41 year old Jeremy
Dreher, pinned behind the steering wheel in his vehicle.
According to witnesses, Dreher was traveling westbound on Bigelow Gulch from Argonne. Witnesses said Dreher was driving recklessly, completely driving across the eastbound lanes of travel and at one point onto the shoulder on the south side of Bigelow Gulch.
One witness said they were going to report Dreher to 911 as a possible intoxicated driver right before he struck an eastbound vehicle on Bigelow Gulch head-on.
Due to the severity of injuries to Dreher, Collision Investigators responded to the scene to investigate the collision. Based on evidence at the scene and observations from responding deputies, Dreher was placed under arrest at a local hospital for Vehicular
Assault. A blood sample from Dreher was obtained and charges are expected to be forwarded to the prosecutor's office once the results are returned from the Washington State Crime Lab.
The adult female victim in the collision suffered a shattered right ankle from the collision. As of Wednesday, September 19th, Dreher was listed in critical condition.
