On Sunday Morning, August 19, 2012, at about 6:30 a.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of Mission and Raymond Road to a male lying in the middle of the intersection.
When Deputy A. Childress arrived on scene he located 25-year-old Christopher Yukl unresponsive, lying on the ground. Medics arrived minutes after Deputy Childress, examined Yukl and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Traffic investigator's responded to the scene to investigate the suspicious death of Yukl. Initially it was believed Yukl may have been the victim of a hit and run collision. After an autopsy was performed on Yukl, the Medical Examiner's Office determined the
cause of death was not known, the injuries to Yukl were not caused from a vehicle collision and were not the cause his death.
Major Crimes Detectives obtained surveillance video from a home near the intersection where Yukl was found which shows Yukl being dropped off near the intersection by individuals in a 4-door sedan style vehicle. Yukl was standing and conscious when he was dropped
off and fell to the ground in the intersection a short time later.
Detectives are waiting for toxicology results from the Medical Examiner's Office as this investigation is on-going.
