Canines for K9s: A Furry Family Fun Day and Dog Walk

  • K9 and HandlerSeptember 20th, 2015
  • 10:30 a.m.
  • Plante's Ferry Park

This is a community outreach event by the Spokane County Sheriff’s K9 Unit.  It is an opportunity for the community to get to know the dogs and handlers, and see them demonstrate the skills that they use each day to keep our community safe.  There will also be further education opportunities around the topic of crime prevention, a special appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog, as well as games and fun for the whole family.  The funds raised at this event will be donated directly to the K9 Unit to purchase necessary and/or unexpected items which are not included in the annual budget for the program.

Each registered walker will get a t-shirt at the event. The walk will be an easy 2 mile route.

This event is the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication of private citizens and community business who want to show their support of our K9 Unit. The funds raised at this event will be donated directly to our K9 Unit to help provide additional training opportunities and equipment. We are extremely thankful for the generosity of our community and with your continued help; the Spokane County Sheriff's K9 Unit will continue to provide professional and well-trained K9 services.

Sponsorship Opportunities are available for businesses who would like to help support this fun family event. Please contact the event coordinators at

Online registration for the 2nd Annual Canines for K9s event will open open in August. You don't need to register in order to attend - all are welcome! - but only registered walkers will receive a FREE Spokane County Sheriff's K9 Unit T-shirt.
