Patrol Commander Captain Mark Werner
As Patrol Division Commander, Captain Werner oversees the day-to-day operations of the Patrol Division for Spokane County. Additionally, the SWAT team, Traffic unit, K9 unit, Search and Rescue, Dive Team, Marine Enforcement and Regional Air Support Unit are all units under Capt Werner’s command.
Captain Werner began his Law Enforcement career while serving in the United States Air Force. Captain Werner joined the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office in 1994. Since being with the Sheriff’s Office he has served as Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, Explorer Advisor, SWAT Team member, Property Crimes Detective, Narcotics Detective and Patrol Sergeant. In 2010 he was promoted to Captain and Commander of Patrol Division.
During his time with the Sheriff’s Office Capt Werner has been awarded the Life Saving Medal and Unit Merit Award as a member of the Sheriff’s Office Clandestine Lab Team.
Capt Werner is a graduate of Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Criminal Justice.
