Volunteering at SCRAPS
At SCRAPS, we love our volunteers! Our volunteer program supports every aspect of our work from walking dogs and socializing cats to educational outreach and special events. As a volunteer, you will work with staff and other volunteers who share your interests. You don’t have to be experienced; all you need is to love and respect animals and be able to make a time commitment that fits best into your schedule.
Here's how to get started:
Attend a Volunteer Orientation held at SCRAPS, and learn about what we do, our mission, our public services, and volunteer opportunities. Everyone is welcome to join us at this meeting, you do not need to pre-register. Learn how volunteers work to enhance the animals’ stay here as well as find them new homes. To volunteer at SCRAPS you must be 16 or older.
Younger than 16? Need community service hours for school? Click here. Volunteers younger than 16 can help the animals in a variety of ways such as food or donation drives, garage sales, car washes, making special treats - let your imagination be your guide!
Register on line here: Volunteer Registration Form - You can fill out a registration form before or after the orientation.
Foster an animal: Sick, injured, pregnant, nursing or stressed animals do not stay at SCRAPS. They have the chance to go to a foster family until they are ready to find their forever home. Foster volunteers are special people! They make sure animals have the time and love they need along with a warm home and a full bowl. ONLY when animals are ready will they come back to SCRAPS. Can you be a foster volunteer?
Register on line here: Foster Volunteer Application Please fill out an application before coming to orientation. After we receive your application a SCRAPS representative will contact you with further questions.

Note: All meetings are held 10 - 11:00 am at our new site at 6815 E. Trent Avenue
At SCRAPS, staff and volunteers work together to care for the animals and enrich their time here at the shelter. There are many ways volunteers make things better for the animals. Click here to see some of the many volunteer positions at SCRAPS. Not all jobs are open at all times; open positions will be posted at the Volunteer Orientation. Questions?
