Community Resources

SCRAPS offers a wide-variety of resources to the Spokane community including adoption services, licensing and animal protection. We also have breed information, information on selecting a boarding kennel and free dog training classes.  Follow the links on the left to access the information you need.

We also offer behavior information on subject from Breaking the Barking Habit with your dog, introducing your new cat to your household and information on introducing your pets to your new baby. These can all be accessed on this website.

Free Dog Training Classes

Every first and third Saturday of the month, SCRAPS offers free dog training classes to the public. You don't have to have gotten your dog from SCRAPS to attend. You and your dog will learn basic commands and the do's and don'ts of dog etiquette.

Please contact us at 477-2532 in advance to register for a class as there are limited spaces available. The class is 1.5 hours and takes place in the SCRAPS Community Room located in the Regional Animal Facility at 6815 E. Trent. Please bring soft treats, such as cheese or hotdogs, to aid in the training process. Dogs must have a current license.

Dog Houses

Your dog needs protection from the cold winter winds and the heat of the summer. SCRAPS has gently used dog houses for free available to the community. We also except gently used dog houses.

SCRAPS is unable to pick-up donated dog houses at this time. You can bring your dog house to our facility at 6815 E. Trent during normal operating hours. This donation is tax deductible.

Humane Education

SCRAPS offers humane education presentations that vary from dog bite prevention, caring for your pets and pet safety in conjunction with tours of our facility to school-aged and adult groups. If you are interested in a presentation, please contact our Outreach Coordinator at (509) 477-2769.

Low Cost Food Bank

SCRAPS is constantly working to ensure that pets can stay in their own homes rather than needing to find a new forever family. If circumstances require that you need temporary help with dog or cat food, come to SCRAPS. If any food is available, we will be glad to assist you.

Other resources include:

  • There's even seasonal information on traveling with pets, grooming and more under pet care and training.
  • Rehoming information for you to find the best new home possible.
  • A list of events including free pet care classes provided by SCRAPS.
