The Spokane County Public Defender Office's mission is to provide quality, professional, independent, zealous and effective representation of all clients appointed to the office at a reasonable cost to the community. The office's mandate is constitutionally and legislatively established to guarantee effective representation of those persons otherwise unable to afford counsel. Areas of representation include adult felony crimes, juvenile felony and misdemeanor crimes, county misdemeanor crimes, juvenile dependency or termination petitions and civil and alcohol commitment petitions.
