Location of Court Hearings
Felonies are in Superior Court in the main courthouse 1116 W. Broadway, on either the 3rd or 4th floors.
Misdemeanors (DUI, Domestic Violence and most traffic charges) are held in District Court on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse Annex, which is the back part of the main courthouse, or on the second floor of the Public Safety Building, which is north across the courtyard from the back of the main courthouse.
For some kinds of hearings, clients who are in jail will not be taken to court, but instead will have a "video appearance." First Appearances for people who have just been arrested, for example, are via video. This means that the judge will be in a regular courtroom, but the client and the attorneys will be in a room inside the jail, in front of a video camera. The public can attend felony video hearings in Superior Court on the 3rd and 4th floors of the old Courthouse. For misdemeanor video hearings, the public can attend by going to the second floor of the Public Safety Building.
NOTE: visitors to any court room in Spokane County will encounter security checkpoints at the door. You will be required to walk through a metal detector, and pass your belongings through an X-ray machine. No weapons will be allowed.
