Service Reductions:
Dear Patrons, during these difficult times we are making some changes to live within an adjusted set of resources. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. Please feel free to contact our department with any questions. 2009 Parks and Recreation Department Service Reductions as follows:
- Lifeguard services will not be provided at Fish Lake and Bear Lake Regional Parks. Bear Lake and Pine River Parks will not open until June 1,2009. This means that entry gates, garbage disposal, drinking fountains and restrooms will remain locked until June 1, 2009 and other general maintenance activities/services will be delayed. The public is not barred from walking in.
- Entry Fees will not be charged this year at Fish Lake and Bear Lake Parks.
- Camp Caro: We have not "opened and closed" the main entry gates at Camp Caro during the off-season. Gate opening and closing at Camp Caro will resume for the park season effective on or about April 15th.
- Gleneden Park: We will be delaying the opening of restrooms, garbage disposal, drinking fountains and regular "opening and closing of the access gates" at Gleneden Park until June 1, 2009. During this time we will experiment with leaving the access gates in the open position until June 1, 2009.
- Signs have been posted at Bear Lake, Pine River and Gleneden Parks to advise of the delayed openings (June 1). Additional signage will be prepared and posted to advise park patrons of the elimination of lifeguard services at Fish and Bear Lakes.
- Gateway Park: Visitors Center to remain closed for the foreseeable future. Previously, we have enjoyed a partnership with the Spokane Convention and Visitor's Bureau, whereby they operated the visitor's Center at Gateway Park
