Spokane County GIS Data and Map Downloads

It is the policy of Spokane County to provide public access to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data in accordance with the Washington State Public Records Act (Chapter 42.56 - Revised Code of Washington) and Spokane County Code (Chapter 1.42). Datasets that contain protected content under Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 42.56 will not be published. Please review the full text of RCW 42.56 for more information regarding protected content.

GIS datasets are provided here in ESRI shapefile format. Other special formats are negotiable depending on the Spokane County software capability, and charged on a per hour basis as a custom request. Most important, the client should know that formats other than ESRI shapefile format, such as DXF, have limited attribute handling capability. Spokane County does not guarantee that any future data releases/updates will be in the same format as the current datasets, nor even that the data will be available for release.

GIS datasets are created and maintained to service the business functions of Spokane County Departments, and therefore, may have irregular update cycles or no updates at all. Consult the metadata documentation for information regarding the update cycle for a particular dataset.

Spokane County will from time to time shift the geographic location of map features to improve the accuracy of GIS data. Any data that the user builds in relation to Spokane County data may require spatial adjustment to correlate with improved Spokane County data. Spokane County will not notify users when updates have occurred. Please consult the metadata document to determine the last update date for a specific dataset.

GIS maps are provided in Adobe portable document format (pdf). Maps provided here are compiled from various sources subject to constant revision.  While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the data, no warranty is made or implied.  Legal documents and site inspections are necessary to establish locations on the ground.

IMPORTANT:

RCW 42.56.070(9) prohibits the release of lists of individuals requested for commercial purposes.  The requester expressly represents that no such use of any such list will be made by the user or its transferee(s) or vendee(s).

GIS datasets are provided “AS-IS.” Spokane County makes no guarantee or warranty concerning the accuracy of information contained in the GIS data. Spokane County further makes no warranties whether expressed or implied as to any other matter whatsoever, including, without limitation, the condition of the product, or its fitness for any particular purpose. The burden for determining fitness for use lies entirely with the user. Although these datasets have been processed successfully on computers at Spokane County, no warranty, expressed or implied, is made by Spokane County regarding the use of these datasets on any other system, nor does the fact of distribution constitute or imply such warranty. In no event shall Spokane County have liability whatsoever for payment of any consequential, incidental, special, or tort damages of any kind, including, but not limited to, any loss of profits arising out of use of or reliance on the datasets, or arising out of the delivery, installation, operation, or support by Spokane County.

I agree to assume the entire risk, including quality, performance, and usefulness of any GIS data/maps requested, and I agree to adhere to the prohibitions listed in RCW 42.56.070(9).
