Spokane County Intersatate Fair

ENTERTAINMENT

Message from the Chair:

Welcome to the Spokane County Interstate Fair Website, where we have a good thing growing!
This year at the Fair we are focusing on all of the good things that are going on. From the giant pumpkins and the grand champion bull to the expanded entertainment and facility improvements; it is time that we celebrate everything that we have accomplished and how far we have come.
Some of this year's entertainment includes the 22nd Annual PRCA Rodeo, country music artist Joe Nichols, Disney's Raven, Bowling for Soup, 4 x 4 Truck Pulls, and two demolition derbies.  There's truly a little something for everyone this year in the Grandstand.
Do you know how many people it takes to put together the Interstate Fair each year? It takes hundreds!
Without each and every one of these dedicated volunteers the Interstate Fair wouldn’t be possible. From the families that take the time to organize special projects to the Superintendents that work all year round to plan and organize their departments. We are so excited and lucky to work with all of you!
We are already busy at work planning and preparing for the 2008 Spokane County Interstate Fair. If you too would like to be a part of the Spokane County Interstate Fair Team contact the staff at (509) 477-2772 or via e-mail at JMcLaughlin@spokanecounty.org.
We’ve got a good thing growing, September 5th through the 14th!

Superintendent Spotlight

Spotlight Image

Barb Kunze is the Fair’s Dairy Goat Superintendent.  She has filled this role since 2005.  Barb is a ten-year member of the American Dairy Goat Association and has owned goats for approximately 14 years.  She also raises hogs and has raised cattle, chickens and had a couple of horses in the past. Barb has a 30-acre farm in the Reardan area and grows most of her own hay for her goats. Her nephews also have goats at the farm making the fun truly family oriented.

Last year, under Barb’s care, the Goat Barn exploded with entries.  The Fair had 400 open goat exhibits and another 100 youth goat exhibits.  The 10,000 square feet Goat Barn was VERY full…so full that some of the goats were housed in the horse stalls and a temporary tent. That’s a lot of goats!

The Fair feels very fortunate to have Barb as a Superintendent – she is fun, kind, and does an excellent job with her exhibitors.
