Introduction and Background
Spokane County Community Services (SCCS) Developmental Disabilities Program works in partnership with Region 1 Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) to administer a range of specific programs by subcontracting with local agencies to provide support and services birth through life to people with developmental disabilities and their families. SCCS provides:
  • Child development services to children birth to three years old with developmental delays or disabilities;
  • Transition services to young adults with developmental disabilities who have turned 21 years old and have graduated from high school;
  • Adult services to help adults with developmental disabilities find and maintain employment and live full participating and contributing lives within the community.
The Developmental Disabilities Program is also responsible for information, education and overall coordination and planning of activities relating to services for persons with developmental disabilities. The Developmental Disabilities Program follows the County Guidelines, which along with Residential Guidelines and the State Strategic Plan provide the philosophical foundation for all programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Joyce and David will present their report to the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board on Tuesday, June 6th at 4: p.m.. You are welcome and encouraged to come and hear that presentation. The information in the report will be used to develop the goals for our 2006 -2011 five year plan which will be completed in the next several months. The purpose of the plan is to direct our work as we seek to accomplish our mission: "To Support Each Person With a Developmental Disability to Achieve and Maintain a Full and Participating Life in Their Community."
