Purpose of the Housing and Community Development Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Committee is to provide representatives of incorporated cities and towns as well as citizens of the unincorporated areas of Spokane County.

Members: 17
Term: 3 years
Details: Requires ten representatives from small towns, three representatives from Spokane Valley and at-large representatives. Members must have resident status within Spokane County and commit to time requirements and responsibilities listed.
Mayoral appointments serve at the discretion of the appointing Mayor from each of Spokane County’s cities and towns for a term not to exceed three years. Eligible applicants must represent Millwood, Spokane Valley and Waverly. For citizen representatives appointments (At-Large), consideration will be made for equal geographic distribution of individuals representing the low and moderate-income target population, including: Elderly, Minorities, Unemployed, Disabled, Single Head of Household, and Youth. Eligible applicants must reside in the unincorporated area of Spokane County.
Responsibilities/Time Commitment
These representatives will participate in comment and review of the Community Development Block Grant (SDBG) Program and HOME Investment Partnership Program, including Citizen Participation Plans, Consolidated Plan, and Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER). The Committee shall review staff and department proposals and initiatives, provide individual and Committee comments and vote on approved Committee recommendations which the department will submit to the Board of County Commissioners. Members of the Committee must participate in holding public meetings/hearings to solicit input from Spokane County residents regarding Housing and Community Development issues. Provide unbiased funding recommendations for activities that are consistent with the County’s consolidated plan.
Must participate in ten meetings per year. Meetings last approximately 1 hour.
