2012 Tentative Meeting Schedule

Public Hearing Items

February 16, 2012 - Proposed Amendment to the Spokane County Zone Code
The Spokane County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider oral and written testimony both for and against proposed amendments to Spokane County Zone Code Chapter 14.618.220 - Rural Zones Matrix, to allow Accessory Dwelling Unit, detached, as an allowed use in the Rural Conservation Zone with specific standards.

The proposed amendment was submitted by Benchmark Custom Construction c/o Dwight Hume.  Currently, Accessory Dwelling Units, Detached, are allowed in other Rural Zones; Rural-5, Rural Traditional, Urban Reserve and Rural Activity Center subject to performance standards found in Section 14.618.230 of the Spokane County Zone Code.  The amendment proposes to add the Rural Conservation Zone to the rural zones that allow these residential units, subject to the existing performance standards, while adding the standard that these detached units would not be allowed in any Rural Cluster lots.

January 26, 2012 - Urban Growth Area
Spokane County and the Cities of Spokane, are reviewing the County's Urban Growth Area to determine the need for accommodating future growth. Spokane County has prepared an Environmental Impact Statement to analyze potential changes to the urban growth area boundary. 

The Planning Commission for Spokane County has scheduled a public hearing on the UGA Update for January 26, 2012 at 9:00 am in the Spokane County Board of County Commissioners Hearing Room, 1026 W. Broadway Ave, Spokane WA.
