To obtain a permit to install a manufactured (or mobile) home, you will need:

  • The address, including the space number if located in a mobile home park, or;
  • If located on a separate piece of property, the parcel number and legal description (this information can be found on your property tax statement or may be obtained from the County Assessor’s Office.)
  • Site plan on an 8-˝ x 11 sheet of paper (please indicate the scale you used and a marker showing the direction of north; location and dimension of all property lines, easements, all existing and proposed structures on the property. Also indicate if the project will be located within 250 feet of a body of water or wetland and show the ordinary high water mark. Lastly on your site plan, show the location of proposed or existing sewage disposal system or sewer line, wells and water lines.)
  • The year, make, HUD # or model, and size of the manufactured home;
  • The name and certificate number of the Washington State Certified Installer who will be doing the installation work of your manufactured home; and
  • The manufacturers installation instructions, or a completed Spokane County Department of Building and Planning pamphlet;
  • Unless you are installing a new manufactured home, an alteration permit for a fire safety inspection from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries may be necessary. This must be purchased prior to release of your manufactured home permit.

Manufactured home permit fees vary with the size of the manufactured home. Permit and fee information may be obtained from the Department of Building and Planning, located on the first floor of the Public Works Building (1026 West Broadway), or by calling one of our representatives at 477-3675 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

After permit issuance, inspections are required prior to pouring any footings. After placement, a final inspection is required when installation is complete including, skirting and exit stairs.
