This morning, County Commissioner and 2014 Board Chair Al French presented the annual “State of the County” address during a meeting hosted by Greater Spokane Incorporated.
Commissioner French’s speech highlighted the leadership role Spokane County has taken in promoting economic development in the region, from manufacturing to technology, while also actively supporting historic preservation and conservation futures. French also focused on the county's efforts in promoting the rapidly growing aerospace sector as one of the founding partners of the Inland Northwest Aerospace Coalition (INWAC), which represents over 100 aerospace manufacturers in the region and 8,000 employees.
In conclusion, French reiterated the county’s commitment to public service. “We are committed to protecting our quality of life, enhancing our economic vitality, expanding and improving the employment base, protecting our community assets – whether it is defending Fairchild Air Force Base from encroachments, maintaining 2,500 miles of road, or preserving our natural environment for current and future generations,” French said.
A video of the 2014 “State of the County” will be available at www.spokanecounty.org, by Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
